Campus Total Defence
Campus Total Defence is a strategic collaboration between Swedish universities aiming to strengthen the Swedish total defence organisation through tailored courses and research. The initiative began in July 2024 with funding from the Knowledge Foundation.
Education and research for total defence
The security situation in Europe has created an urgent need to strengthen Sweden’s defence capability. Campus Total Defence brings together academia, industry, and public authorities to provide the knowledge and expertise needed to meet current and future national security challenges.
A key objective of the initiative is to establish a national education offering that is easily accessible and includes all relevant preparedness sectors, from basic to advanced level.
Further expansion
The initiative was developed by the Swedish Defence University, Örebro University and Luleå University. It is supported by a number of key actors in both the public and private sector.
Between July 2024 and March 2025, the Knowledge Foundation is contributing SEK 6 million to enable the establishment of Campus Total Defense. In September 2024, the government decided to allocate an additional SEK 30 million for the period 2025–2027.
