Forskningsprofiler

In the Forskningsprofiler programme, universities together with business partners develop and strengthen an internationally competitive research profile.

Background of the programme

The Forskningsprofiler programme is intended to support universities in their long-term strategic development and international profiling of selected areas of research. Research environments within the Forskningsprofiler programme are assumed to have come a long way in their development and have clear ambitions for the future. The programme requires that university management and the research environment(s) involved select a well-defined strategic area capable of gaining international renown and scientific impact.

The programme length and volume of funding are designed to facilitate the development and strengthening of research in the chosen research domain. The idea is that the research profile could serve as a hub for the development of a research and educational environment and its collaboration with business partners. A research profile should be strengthened by related activities in research and competence development at second cycle level from different funding bodies to gain capacity to continue to develop even once the Foundation’s funding has ceased.

The programme’s contribution to strong research and educational environments

The Forskningsprofiler programme enables the strategic development of an environment by providing resources for the long-term profiling of research within an overarching research agenda. The profile also enables the environment to deepen and expand its collaboration with business partners in shared fields of research with high business relevance. The project duration of up to eight years also facilitates recruitment of new competence and enables the selected research domain to be linked to related degree programmes.
